Funding Circle was the first website to allow peer-to-peer lending for companies in the UK and now operates in the UK, US, Germany and the Netherlands. Funding Circle has facilitated over £5 billion in loans to small businesses as at June 2018.

Funding Circle has been around since 2010 and is a lending marketplace that enables investors to lend cash directly to SMEs.

Funding Circle was started in 2010 by Samir Desai, James Meekings and Andrew Mullinger. The normal Return on Investment is about 8.1% which is a lot better than many Hedge Funds. The way they process defaults is a lot better than many banks. When a lender defaults, Funding Circle will reduce the payments allowing the company to recover. Often the business is able to return nearly all of the capital.
